Frequently Asked Questions

What is Base Cloth (Diprol) - Synthetic used for?

Base Cloth (Diprol) - Synthetic is used to finish the underside of upholstered furniture, covering the frame and internal workings with a neat, professional dust cover. Also used as a platform cloth on seat bases.

What is the difference between bottom cloth and calico?

Bottom cloth (also called dust cover fabric) is a lightweight non-woven or woven fabric used on the underside of furniture. Calico is an unbleached cotton fabric used under the top cover, over padding, to create a smooth base. Both are available from Upholstery Warehouse.

What width is this lining available in?

Widths vary — the specific width for this product is shown in the product title or description above. Standard widths for bottom cloth are typically 180cm or wider.

How is bottom cloth attached to furniture?

Bottom cloth is folded under and secured with a staple gun or tacks around the perimeter of the furniture base. Cut slightly larger than the base area to allow for folding and stapling.

Why choose Upholstery Warehouse for linings and bottom cloth?
